Geoffrey Rynne

Student Support Officer: Rockhampton

Geoffrey is a proud Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander man who was born and raised in Brisbane. His family connections stretch from Badu Island to Eastern Arrernte country in NT.  He also has strong connections to Woorabinda, having lived there for many years.

Geoffrey has shown his passion for working with children, as he was a Sport and Recreational Officer for the last 18 years before moving into the Student Support Officer role in Rockhampton. He has had his own children graduate boarding and still has 2 boys attending boarding school. Having his children attend boarding schools has given him great knowledge of the workings of boarding life and the issues that often occur. It has also given him first-hand experience of the highs and lows of boarding and how to help students overcome them.

Geoffrey is looking forward to mentoring the CYLP students and supporting them in their growth to become future leaders for their communities. All while instilling self-belief that they can achieve anything they set their minds on.
