Crystal is a proud Murri woman from the Gubbi Gubbi Clan in Central Queensland. Having lived in various regional and remote communities across Queensland, she has developed strong connections with other First Nations people, communities and places. With a passion for youth, education, Indigenous empowerment, and community development, she is committed to supporting Indigenous students in achieving academic success and transitioning to further study or employment.
Crystal brings extensive experience from roles in not-for-profit, non-government, private, and government sectors, with expertise in student support, business services, and education administration. She has previously worked with the Cairns School of Distance Education as a Parent Liaison Officer, James Cook University as an Indigenous Student Support Advisor, and General Practice Training Queensland in medical student support and rural education coordination. Through these roles, she has supported students at various stages of their educational journeys, helping them navigate challenges and reach their full potential.
As part of Cape York Leaders Program, Crystal is dedicated to ensuring students receive the guidance and opportunities they need to thrive. She works closely with scholars, families, and schools to provide academic and pastoral support, coordinate key events, and promote leadership development. She also plays a role in program administration, student transitions, and community engagement, helping to strengthen educational pathways for Indigenous youth.
Crystal holds a Bachelor of Business (Management & Leadership, minor in education) and believes education and self-determination are the foundations of future leadership. She is committed to empowering Indigenous students to embrace their potential and build strong futures for themselves and their communities through her work.
